In Southern Italy there is an ancient Church of the Benedictine period, better known as the Abbey of Montecassino. It stands on a hill near Cassino, surrounded by green. With one of our drivers, you can leave from the point you requested, also setting the time, in order to visit the abbey. It is 2 hours from the city of Naples. San Benedetto da Norcia was founded this place of worship, which many years before 529 (the year of its foundation) was known as the ancient temple of Apollo. However, the abbey has suffered numerous blows over time: the last was caused by one of the bombings that took place during the Second World War. At the end of the conflict, however, the restoration began, with the purpose of preserving everything that was going to remember the history of this complex. In fact, the work carried out to reconstruct the flooring, characterized by some marbles already present in the basilica, is truly unique. The structure is divided into several cloisters and areas but is distinguished by numerous elements, including the portico, which takes the name of "Loggia del Paradiso", the altar, characterized by various sculptures and the fresco by Annigoni which represents precisely St. Benedict. The library enhances its value in Italy, as several texts are kept here including parchments and codices since the monks here were also very busy in the transcription work. This activity has a duration of 6 hours.
